For the Kiwanis Club of Price, service is more than just an action; it’s a lifestyle. This lifestyle was highlighted on Sunday, Dec. 15, when the club, in conjunction with the Miss Carbon County Scholarship organization, gathered for their annual ‘Sub for Santa’ event.
This event continued the tradition of service set by the Kiwanis, which in addition to the ‘Sub for Santa’ event also hosts an annual Rubber Duck race and a radio auction. All of the money raised from these events doesn’t go into the pockets of the members, it goes directly back to the youth of the community. According to the group’s Facebook page,” The Price Kiwanis Club is a charity that strives to better the lives of the youth in our community. All money raised is given back to the youth in our area.” This works in conjunction with the organization’s motto of,” Serving the Children of the World.”
The return on investment can be seen in the impact it has on the children of the Castle Country Area. In this case, it provides Christmas gifts for children who might not have been able to receive them otherwise. These gifts include items such as winter clothing, toys and books.
Once these gifts were purchased, the volunteers then spent the day wrapping the items in preparation for their delivery to the selected families.
”This heartwarming initiative allows us to pick out items for children in need during the holidays. We are incredibly grateful for the Kiwanis Club and all their contributions to our community and the Miss Carbon County Organization. I’m also deeply thankful for the chance to give back during the holiday season,” stated Miss Carbon County Shalyce Rauhala in a Facebook post, “It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, but the most important thing to remember is the joy of serving others. Serving others brings the greatest joy one can experience!”
