Within the Castle Country Area, service is always in the minds of its residents. Events big and small aimed at helping those in need are seen all around us, whether it be shoveling the snow out of a neighbor’s driveway or bigger charity events, those in the Castle Country love to serve.
Local businesses get in on the fun, too, such as Komatsu, which has aided in several charitable engagements throughout the year. To discuss these prior acts of service and look ahead, Tom King from the company stopped by the KOAL Newsroom to share why Komatsu wants to be involved in the community.
“We want to emphasize not only do we do all the holiday events that we do with KOAL,” explained King,” but then we also do Shop with a Cop, the United Way’s Angel Tree and we’ve done some events. We’ve partnered up with the school district to do some events and then in the summer times, we do sporting events. We’ve sponsored golf charitable events, rodeo events, and stuff like that. We’re involved year-round in the community, and we want to be a part of it.”
Continuing on this trend, King discussed the Komatsu Christmas event that is coming up on Wednesday, Dec. 18,” we’re going to have Chrysalis, NES, TKJ, RISE, and we’re going to have a big event for their clients and their staff, which is about 150 people, and we’ll be going to see ‘The Grinch’ at the theaters. Komatsu is going to provide each person with a snack, drink and popcorn along with that movie ticket.” King added,” and then it’s my understanding that there’s going to be a live sighting of the Grinch, and Santa Claus will be there too.”
King then spoke on the spirit of charity within the Castle Country, and what he’s witnessed during his time at Komatsu,” I’ve been a part of the community in my other employment and stuff and it’s amazing how many people are supportive of a lot of different things here. And when something comes up, a lot of people get involved, and Komatsu’s been one of them.”
Switching gears, King discussed the impact that Komatsu has had on his life,” I’ve been fortunate to work there. I’ve been here for over two years now, (I’m starting my third year, and it’s been a life changer for me. It’s been good for me. It’s a great place, an enjoyable place to work and we do some really good things.”
In closing, King shared,” Thank you to Komatsu for everything that they’ve done for the community, and I hope the people at tomorrow’s event have a great time.”
