Fred Nichols, age 87, died peacefully on December 17, 2024 at Utah Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 16, 1937 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Harry and Virginia Johnson Nichols. Fred was the middle child of six children, alongside his four brothers and a sister. Fred was a rebel who like loud cars, country music, and Coors beer.
He met the love of his life, Garaldine Shaw and they later married in Elko, Nevada on November 30, 1957 and made a home in Price where they raised their four children.
Fred started delivering Coors beer as a young man. He then owned Fred’s Frontier Service Station & Restaurant, later named the Husky Service Station & Restaurant.
Fred was a passionate union worker for Kaiser Steel, Price River Coal, and a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America, Castle Gate Local #8622.
Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great was the epitome of a family man, where he was at every family gathering drinking a cold Coors.
Fred loved horseshoes and watching his family enjoy life. When his wife Garaldine got sick, he was her sole caregiver until her passing, where he picked up her role of caring for the family.
He will be deeply missed by his large family and many dear friends who thought the world of him.
Fred is survived by his sister, Connie Cutler; his four children, Dennis (Dixie) Nichols, Irene Everett, Darla (Roy) Rich, and Susan Perri; 16 grandkids, 31 great-grandkids, and one great-great-grandson with one more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife; parents; brothers, Corky, Bob, Bill, and Gary; in-laws, Garald and Wanda Shaw; granddaughter, Maquette; great-grandson, Austin; and sons-in-law, Ricci Camberlango, Randy Everett, and Randy Perri.
