Pinnacle’s boys’ basketball squad was on the road last Friday when they traveled to Monticello to face the Buckaroo. Coming after a loss to Green River on their home floor, the Panthers looked to clear their heads and unfortunately, the Buckaroo was having none of that as they used a big second half to put the Panthers away 63-42.

In the first quarter, each team was mostly just feeling out the other as the whole first half was played very close with Pinnacle being down at the end of the first period 14-11. The Panthers though came back on the second outscoring the Buckaroo by two and facing just a one-point deficit going to the locker room at the half 25-24.

In the second half, Monticello took control on both sides of the floor as they would put up 21 in the quarter and also held Pinnacle to 11 as they increased their lead to 46-35 as they moved to the final eight minutes. The fourth quarter was a repeat of the third with the Buckaroo outscoring Pinnacle 10 once again, and closing out the Panthers by the score of 63-42.

Brody Howell turned in 16 for Pinnacle, while Dominick Vigil scored 10 and Gavone Larsen had five in the loss.

Pinnacle gets back on the road Thursday when they travel to Whitehorse.

The Panthers will be back on their home court on Thursday the 24th when they will face Monument Valley
