
Merrill Richard Peterson Jr., age 77, of Ferron, Utah passed away on January 15, 2025.
Merrill was born on February 5, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Merrill Richard Peterson Sr. and Donna Cherrel Jacobsen Peterson.
Merrill married Elaine Mariah Cox in 1971, and together they had four children. After their divorce, Merrill married Debora Ann Rachele on August 10, 1990, in the Manti Temple. Throughout his life, Merrill achieved significant milestones, including his education, a meaningful career, his marriages, and the joy of raising his children.
Merrill was a hard worker who spent his early career years working for JCPenney and Pay’n Pak. Later in his career, he spent 30 years working for Emery Telcom where he had numerous responsibilities and was often known as “The Telephone Man!”
Merrill was a man of remarkable character, known for his kind heart and genuine love for others which, was evident in everything he did. He was deeply dedicated and loyal to his friends and family, embodying qualities of honesty, humility, forgiveness, and acceptance.
Merrill’s hobbies mostly included camping, being outdoors, watching movies and spending time with the people he loved.
Merrill is survived by his wife, Debora Peterson; children, Rosie Peterson, Merrill (April) Peterson; Matthew Peterson, Angie (Grant) Peterson Settle; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Michael) Felice, Kathy (Brent) Ursenbach, Karen (John) Jacobson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill Richard Peterson and Donna Cherrel Jacobsen Peterson; and his twin granddaughters, Harley and Bryndee Peterson (daughters of April and Merrill Peterson).
Merrill will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. His legacy and impact on all of us will always be something we will cherish. The Family would like to thank all of the staff at San Rafael Health & Rehab as well Symbii Home Health & Hospice for the love and care that was shown towards Merrill.
Funeral service, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Millsite Ward Chapel (35 West 200 North in Ferron). The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the church from 5-7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment, Ferron City Cemetery.
