The Carbon Dino swim teams along with the rest of Region 12 made the trip to Cedar City for the Championships on Friday. The host team Canyon View would earn the top spots on both sides of the pool with the Lady Dinos taking a third-place finish and the boy’s team taking fourth.

Canyon View claimed the top spot in the girl’s division with 559 points, Emery took second with 340. Carbon claimed a third place finish with 292 points followed by Richfield with 274. North Sanpete (247), Manti (87), and Delta (58) comprised the rest of the field.

The Lady Dinos relay team in the 400 free finished in third place. Individual marks went to Lily Thayn who earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Lisa King swam her way to a third-place finish in the 100 free.

For the boys, it was the Canyon View Falcons claiming first place with 444 points, and Emery finished second with 405. Richfield finished third with 370, Carbon ended in fourth with 258. Manti (162), North Sanpete (122), and Delta (79) made up the remainder of the field.

Carbon’s team in the 400 free relay claimed a third-place finish as well. Mason Engar earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 free, and the backstroke. Bracken Hanson took second in the 500 free, and Logan Kranendonk claimed a third-place finish in the butterfly.

The swimming season will come to a close on February 7 & 8 at Brigham Young University, the site of the 3A State Championships.
