On Thursday evening, the Lady Spartans were on the road in Nephi to close out the regular season against the Juab Wasps. Emery captured the win, completing the season sweep, 55-47.
Emery is on its way to the postseason. The team has completed the regular season with a 13-10 overall record and a 10-4 mark in Region 12 play.
The opening quarter started on the quiet side with both teams combining for just 11, as Emery held the 8-3 lead. In the second quarter, both teams found their offense as they would go toe-to-toe with the Lady Spartans taking a one-point edge in the quarter and holding a 22-16 lead at halftime.
Moving into the third quarter, Juab came out and had something to prove cutting the lead to just one by the end of it, with Emery ahead 34-33. The Spartans looked to put some distance between them and the Wasps, collecting 21 points and allowing 14 to close out Juab 55-47.
Kali Jensen scored 14 in the contest grabbing 13 rebounds and five steals for Emery. KaBree Gordon had 13 with four boards and Megan Stilson scored eight adding five steals in the win.
Now they wait until Saturday when the Utah High School Activities Association will release the final RPI rankings along with the bracket for the State Tournament which will begin at home sites on February 11.
The State Championships will take place February 24-26 at Utah Valley University.
