John Charles Hayward III passed away on March 2, 2025 at Pinnacle Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was 79. John was born January 3, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John Charles and Dorothy Hayward.
John lived in Pennsylvania as a young child but then grew up in Santa Ana, California. After college, John ventured out on an adventure and eventually settled in Price, Utah.
John loved the open terrain of the desert. Being outdoors was like breathing air to him. He was a master carpenter, a true craftsman. He was also an artist with wood or metal. John worked in the coal mines, then for Price City until his retirement.
He loved Harleys, hot rods, 4-wheeling (where he was a member of the Boggy Bottom 4-wheelers club, and was a member of a car club), rock ‘n roll music, reloading, and shotguns. John enjoyed playing pool and was great at it.
John enjoyed in his later years to wander out and roam the desert with his dog on the side by side. He loved animals and had many 4-legged friends along the way. John had some great adventures but was a home body at heart.
Many thanks to Pinnacle Nursing & Rehabilitation for helping care for John the last few years. Special thanks to aide Janyssa who helped bundle John up to spend a last day outdoors where he wanted to be.
John is preceded in death by both parents, John Hayward and Dorothy Hayward, along with his only sibling, his brother Theodore Hayward.
He will be missed greatly by his family and a community of friends.
Per John’s wishes, no services will take place. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of John online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
