The Dinos tennis squad opened the season on the road in Monroe at South Sevier. Carbon couldn’t collect a match win falling to the Rams 5-0.

In the first singles match, Carbon’s Nicholas Bryner lost the first set 6-2 to South Sevier’s Logan Bergfeld. The second set was a bit more competitive, but Bryner also lost that one 6-4.

The second singles match was evenly matched, as Memphis Howell took on Britton Johnson. The match went three sets, with Johnson winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Zander Carrillo also battled in his third singles match with Carson Blackburn, going three sets. He won the first 6-3 but fell in set two 7-5 and lost in a tie break in the third 6-6 (7-5).

The first doubles match saw Josiah Trostle and Judson Varner take on Eli Dopp and Lincoln Hansen. The two teams went toe-to-toe in set one with the duo from South Sevier earning a 6-6 (9-7) win in the first set and a 6-2 win in set number two.

In second doubles, Carter Abbott and Oliver Steele fell to Joel Cefalia and Kesi Manning in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2.

Carbon will return to the courts on Wednesday when they travel to Manti to face the Templars.
