On Wednesday, the Carbon baseball squad welcome North Sanpete to Price. Initially set for Tuesday, the contest was rescheduled because of the weather. North Sanpete has had the Dinos number lately, and that would continue on Wednesday as they handed the Dinos an 8-0 loss.

After beating them both times in the regular season last year, Carbon faced them in the first round of the playoffs, losing in a best-of-three play-in round.

The Hawks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first inning, and then the bats fell silent for both teams as the Dinos could not get any runs on the board in the contest. North Sanpete’s Hudson Smith was almost unhittable, earning a complete game win as he surrendered just one hit and struck out eleven.

Mike Vigil had the only hit for the Dinos, who fell to 2-6 this season and are still looking for their first region win.

Stockton Kennedy got the loss on the mound going 4.1 innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits and struck out five. Maddex Willson was also on the hill during the game, putting in 2.2 innings of work where he gave up four earned runs on three hits while striking out four.

On Thursday, the Dinos will face the Salem Hills Skyhawks. The Skyhawks are 1-4 in the 5A classification, and when the two teams locked horns last year, it was Salem Hills coming away with the 12-5 win.

Then, on Friday, Carbon will travel to face North Sanpete again on their field in Mount Pleasant.

The game with Salem Hills on Thursday is set for 3:00 p.m..
