The Dino baseball squad was back on the diamond Thursday afternoon to face the Salem Hills Skyhawks. Coming off a loss on Wednesday at the hands of North Sanpete, Carbon couldn’t get their offense rolling and fell 16-1 in four innings.

Salem Hills, which plays in the 5A classification, is 2-4 and came off an 11-8 loss to Alta. The teams they have played have a combined record of 19-9 overall. Carbon had just fallen to Region 12 foe North Sanpete on Wednesday.

The Skyhawks came out swinging in the top of the first, putting up nine runs. The bottom of the inning was when Carbon added their lone run when Rydge Butler crossed the plate on a Tyrus Madsen RBI. Salem Hills would add seven more runs through three innings, putting the score at 16-1 when the game was called after four innings.

Madsen went 1-2 with an RBI; Mike Vigil went 1-2, and Butler scored the Dinos’ only run.

Kanon Childs started the game for Carbon, going .2 innings and giving up nine runs, two earned on four hits while striking out two. Tyrus Madsen entered the game and surrendered seven runs, six earned on four hits, and struck out a pair.

Carbon will have to sleep fast because, on Friday, they will be on the road in Mount Pleasant to face North Sanpete.

The Dinos will return home on Tuesday, March 25, to face the Delta Rabbits.
