Carbon boys’ soccer has strung together six wins to open the season. The defense has got them to this point, and on Friday, it was on display again as the Dinos registered their fifth shutout of the season, taking a 3-0 win over the Richfield Wildcats.
The Dinos have outscored their opponent 28-1 this season with senior Cannon Mortensen between the pipes, as he has earned five shutouts. Carbon sits at 6-0 overall this season, and we will find out how they rank against the rest of 3A on April 4, when the initial RPI is released.
Carbon was ready to get back to the pitch and face the Wildcats. The Dinos could find the back of the net once in the first half. They came back in the second half, added another pair of goals, and kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard, taking the 3-0 win.
Sam Dart and Tyler Morris scored a goal, and Logan McEvoy had one goal and one assist. Mirza Atkas earned an assist in the win. Mortensen logged his fifth shutout of the season.
Up next for the Dinos is the Manti Templars. Manti handed Carbon two of their three losses last season, and the Templars went on in the playoffs, falling in the Championship Game against Ogden.
Carbon is facing Manti at home on Wednesday. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m..
