Emery High School senior Jace Frandsen earned a 3A All-State Third Team selection for the 2024-25 basketball season following a vote from coaches in the classification. Fellow senior West Johansen received an honorable mention.

Frandsen garnered an All-State selection after leading the Spartans in scoring and three-pointers made. During his final season at the high school level, he took on an increased role offensively and scored 324 points, averaging 12.5 per contest.

Playing in all 26 games as a senior, Frandsen scored in double-figures in 17 games. He set the tone offensively for the Spartans to start the season, scoring at least 12 points in the first five games, including a season-high 30 in a 78-32 win over Providence Hall on Nov. 27 in the home opener.

Johansen’s honorable mention comes after a stellar senior season, averaging 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

An old-school big who found success with outstanding footwork and his back to the basket, Johansen shot an efficient 55% from the field. A headache for opposing teams, the center also shot 75% from the free-throw line. Johansen scored at least 10 points in 20 games this past season.

Johansen’s impact was also felt on the glass, as he was consistently the team’s leading rebounder. He recorded a double-double three times, leading the Spartans to wins on all three occasions.
