Laura Leigh Cha Cook, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2025, at her home in Helper.

She was born to Laurence and Vera (Matthews) Cha on May 9, 1954, in Price UT.

Laura’s interest grew for children while she was in her teenage years tending many children in town and later became a graduate of SUU with a degree in elementary education. After graduation she found herself teaching at the Price Rev’s elementary school. During this time she met the love of her life, Van Cook, and was married on August 6, 1977, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. She spent her last 10 years teaching at Sillitoe’s Preschool in Helper. After hanging her hat up as a teacher she became a stay-at-home mom, raising her two children, Tony and Janell Cook.

She loved pets and always had a dog and cat around. Puzzles, word searches, and a great cup of tea were her go-to ways to pass the time.

Many of her hobbies included quilting, diamond painting, reading books, coloring, playing cards, and not to mention her love for the outdoors, especially CAMPING. Laura followed in her dad’s footsteps, jumping at any moment to take her camp trailer out. In her later years, Laura enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, tending for them as babies and later watching them as they grew older.

Laura is survived by her husband, Van Cook of Helper; two children, Tony (Candace) Cook of Helper, Janell Nelson of Price; five grandchildren, Claire, Bella and Gavin Nelson of Price, Shontae Herrera of Helper, Mason Cook of Gooding, ID; brother, Micheal Cha of Helper; sister, Linda (Dave) Dimick of Price; and many relatives, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
