With great love and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Karen Litster Jensen, who peacefully left this world on March 23, 2025, at the age of 89, in her home in Elmo, Utah. Her life was a shining example of love, service, and unwavering faith, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Born on March 10, 1936, to Leonard and Dagmar Litster in Cleveland, Utah, she was the youngest of five children. Mom was raised in the home where she was born. She fell in love and married Glen Eden Jensen, also a Cleveland native, on June 23, 1956 making their home in Elmo, Utah. They shared 69 beautiful years together facing life’s challenges and greatest joys and above all, a love that never wavered. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on August 22, 1992.

Mom devoted her life to others with grace and humility. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in the presidencies of the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women’s auxiliaries. Whether preparing meals, organizing girls’ camp activities, or leading ward party skits, she made service both meaningful and joyful for everyone around her.

A talented homemaker, quilter, needleworker, and seamstress, Mom also nurtured beautiful gardens that reflected her patience and care, much like the relationships she cultivated with her children and grandchildren. Her hands were never idle, whether sewing school clothes for her daughters or preparing meals for ranch hands, neighbors, and friends. Our cabin at Range Creek became our second home, where Mom’s warmth and care made it just as loving and welcoming as our Elmo home. No one will forget her contagious laughter, her sense of humor, and her beautiful smile.

Even through the challenges of battling congestive heart failure and many years of health struggles, including rheumatoid arthritis, Mom’s spirit remained unyielding. Her strength and determination carried her through, never allowing her hardships to diminish her love for others. She continued to serve with a smile, embodying resilience and grace.

She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her surviving loved ones: her husband, Glen E. Jensen of Elmo, UT; her children, Kirk (Roxanne) Jensen of Cleveland, UT, Glenna Sumsion of Kemmerer, WY, Marian (Michael) George of Emery, UT; her late daughter, Kim (Byron & Marie Baird) of Payson, UT; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by nine step-grandchildren, 25 step-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Connie Sherman of Ogden, UT.

As we say goodbye to our dear mother, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her daughter, Kim Baird; her siblings, Olene Johansen, Kenneth and Robert Litster; and her parents. Her spirit will forever be a part of us, and her love will continue to guide us through the days ahead. Rest in peace, dear Mom. Your love and light will never be forgotten.

The family would like to thank the staff at Symbii for their dedicated and loving service over the past nine months.
