Coming off a tough weekend in St. George, the Emery Spartan baseball team was back on the road Tuesday in Nephi to take on the Juab Wasps. The Spartans could plate five runs, but it wasn’t enough, and they fell to the Wasps 11-5.

Emery is on a six-game losing streak, three of which came from a tournament at Pine View last weekend. The Spartans hold a 3-9 record overall and are still searching for a Region 12 win, going 0-3.

Emery had one run in the first, but at the bottom of the frame, Juab scored three to take the lead. The Wasps added another trio of runs in the bottom of the second to go up 6-1.

Emery found their bats in the top of the sixth with the score now 8-1. Bronx Olsen came to the plate with one out and sent a single to right, driving in Mason Thornley. Garrett Conover came to the plate next with another single to right, bringing Beau Stilson in to push the score to 8-3. With the bases loaded, Hayden Christiansen drew a walk, and Olsen would score. Next batter up, Trygg Jensen grounded out to the shortstop, scoring Conover, to get the score to 8-5. Juab would score three more in the bottom of the sixth, and close out the Spartans 11-5.

Conover was 2-3 in the contest with a run and an RBI. Stilson was 2-4 with a run, and Olsen went 1-4 with a run and an RBI in the loss.

Conover got the start on the mound, going four innings, giving up eight runs, four earned, on three hits, and striking out five. Frandsen also put in some time and surrendered three earned runs on two hits.

The Spartans are back home on Friday to face the Juab Wasps.
