Last season, the Carbon Dino boys’ soccer squad lost three games, two of them to the Manti Templars. On Wednesday in Price, they were looking to break that streak, and for one half, they looked like they might pull it off, but the Templars scored one goal in the second half, taking a 1- 0 victory, handing the Dinos their first loss of the season.

Manti has been a thorn in Carbon’s side on the soccer field for quite some time. Even though they haven’t played regularly except for the past few years, the Dinos have never beaten the Templars; the closest they have gotten was a tie in 2012. Last year, they lost both regular-season meetings and want to change that.

Carbon and Manti both came out looking for an edge, but neither team was able to get one. They went to halftime tied at 0-0. In the second half, things were progressing about the same, but Manti was able to find the back of the net once, and that was enough as they held the Dinos scoreless to take the 1-0 win.

The Dinos head back to the pitch on the road in Castle Dale on Friday. In their first meeting to start the season, Carbon earned a 7-0 win.
