On Wednesday, the Carbon boys’ soccer team was on the road in Nephi to take on the Juab Wasps. The Dinos had beaten the Wasps earlier in the season and were looking for the sweep, but Juab had other plans, handing Carbon their second loss, 1-0.
Carbon is 8-2 overall and in Region 12 play, second behind Manti. The Templars also leapfrogged the Dinos to take the No. 2 spot in the latest RPI, with Carbon now resting at No. 3 with four matches left to go.
Carbon struggled on offense, as they were unable to find the back of the net, being shut out for just the second time this season. The Dinos held Juab off the scoreboard in the first half, but in the second half, the Wasps found a hole in the Carbon defense to score one and take the 1-0 win.
Carbon’s final four matches are all winnable, starting with Delta. The following week, they welcome Richfield to town and travel to Manti, where they are looking to settle the score this season. The Dinos wrap up the season on April 22 with a match against North Sanpete in Price on Senior Night.
When they face Delta on Friday, they will be looking for the season sweep, back on March 19, the Dinos handed the Rabbits an 8-0 loss in Price.
