Are you looking to get out and have an adventure? Now is the time to get involved, as scout troops from across Carbon County are gathering on Saturday, April 12, at Gateway Lanes for a recruiting event. Kayden Tucker from the Scouts joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the event and discuss the benefits of scouting.

“So basically, we’re going to have pizza, and it’s just going to be a fun event where you can come and learn about the different events we do with scouting,” explained Tucker. “There will be the cub pack boys and girls ages five to 11, the boys troop ages 11 to 18 and the girls troop ages 11 to 18. We’ll all be there offering information on scouting in the area.”

Reflecting on the benefits he’s seen while participating in the scouting program, Tucker shared,” It’s a good opportunity to learn how to be a good leader. You also make many friends around scouting that you would never have the opportunity to talk to otherwise … The leaders are all great. They’re really helpful. And it’s just a great way to learn and have new opportunities.”

Tucker also discussed what new scouts can expect from the program after joining: ” It’s really fun. You get to have a lot of opportunities with all the merit badges. It basically just tries to get you focused on what you want to do in life. And it helps you pick what you want to do. And you get to meet people who know a lot about the subject.”

Tucker stated of the event,” We’re just going to have fun learning about scouting in the community. We have bowling there for two hours and then free pizza along with it. Most importantly, we’re going to have an opportunity to learn about scouting in the area.”

The Carbon County Scout Recruiting event will be held on Saturday, April 12, at Gateway Lanes in Helper from noon to 2 p.m.
