
On Wednesday, the Lady Dino Softball team was on the diamond to welcome in the Duchesne Eagles. Runs came at a premium for Carbon as the Eagles took the 13-4 win.
Carbon drops to 6-10 overall and 4-3 in Region 12 play, holding the No. 9 spot in the RPI. Duchesne is the No. 1 team in 2A and is currently 10-2 overall.
Duchesne took a slight lead in the top of the second, but the Lady Dinos came back to tie it up in the bottom of the inning. Moving into the bottom of the fifth, the score was 5-1 when Kadence Vea sent a ground ball to second that would drive in Brailee Peterson and Harli Heugly, cutting into the Eagles’ lead 5-3. Duchesne added three in the top of the sixth, while the Lady Dinos found a way to get one run in the bottom half of the inning.
Heading into the top of the seventh, the Eagles held an 8-4 lead, but they weren’t satisfied with that, and they would add more, pushing the score to 13-4 and shutting down Carbon in the bottom of the frame to take the win.
Aleece Ardohain went 2-4, scoring one run, Peterson was 2-3 with a run scored, and Kadence Vea was 1-4 with two RBIs in the loss.
Danica Adams got the start, going five innings, giving up five runs, one earned, on five hits, and collecting four strikeouts. Sage Vea went two innings, surrendering four hits and striking out four.
The Lady Dinos will be on the road on Friday when they take on the Canyon View Falcons in Cedar City.
