Carbon baseball was on the road in Manti to face the Templars. The Dinos gave up four runs in the early going, and the Dinos’ rally in the fourth came up short as the Templars took a win in the first of two games this week with the Dinos 10-3.
The Dinos are 6-12 overall and No. 12 in the latest RPI with five games left before the postseason starts May 8 & 9.
The Templars got on the board in the bottom of the third, adding three and then one more in the third, carrying a 4-0 lead into the top of the fourth, when Logan Madrigal sent a home run over the left field wall, bringing Mike Vigil home. Then, with two outs, Logan Bennett sent a ground ball to center, driving in Cash Withers to cut the Manti lead to 4-3. Manti would find their bats in the bottom of the sixth to add five more runs, taking the lead and then shutting down Carbon to get the 10-3 win.
Madrigal went 1-3 with a run and an RBI for Carbon. Rydge Butler went 2-3, Kanon Childs was 2-4, and Bennett was 1-4 with an RBI in the loss.
Stockton Kennedy went 4.1 innings with five runs, three earned, on eight hits, and striking out seven. Paxton Falk came in to close things out with five earned runs on six hits and struck out one.
The Dinos will look to split the season series on Friday when the Templars come to Price.
