003-21

The Dino soccer team was looking for that elusive win over the Manti Templars on the road Friday. Both teams sit atop the Region 12 standings, with the Templars having a slight edge. On Friday, Carbon could hold Manti off the board in the first half, but the Templars broke the Dino defense, finding the back of the net twice, taking a 2-0 win.

Carbon holds a 10-3 mark this season and was looking to crack the Templar code. On March 26, Manti came to Price and earned a 1-0 victory, and in recent memory, the Dinos have been able to put one in the win column against Manti. The season will close on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, the final RPI will be released along with the bracket for the State Championships, which start on Friday.

Both teams were able to keep each other off the scoreboard in the first half, as neither could find holes in the other’s defense. The teams went to halftime tied 0-0. Manti found its way around Carbon in the second half and sent two into the back of the net to take the 2-0 win.

Carbon will celebrate its senior class on Tuesday in its final home game, which is also the last game of the regular season.

The contest with the North Sanpete Hawks is set for a 4:00 p.m. start.
