009-12

The Lady Dinos put six runs on the board in the first two innings against the No. 4-ranked Providence Hall Patriots on Friday in Price. Collecting all their runs in three innings, the Dinos put them away 10-4.

Carbon holds a 7-14 overall mark to go along with the No. 9 spot in the latest RPI ranking. The Lady Dinos have just five more opportunities to move up the ladder before the end of the season on April 29.

A pair of doubles in the first got runs on the board for Carbon. Danica Adams got things started with a two-run double to center, bringing Brailee Peterson and Kennlee Kennedy home. Shayla Penovich was the next batter for Carbon, and she would smack another double to center, driving in Adams.

In the bottom of the second, Aleece Ardohain drove in three with a single swing of the bat, sending her first pitch over the left field wall that brought home Kadence Vea and Lacie Gregersen to get the score to 6-0 after two.

Providence Hall added a pair of runs in the third, and then a single score came in the fourth to cut into the Carbon lead, 6-3. Carbon woke up the bats again in the fifth.

Sage Vea came up to the plate with one out and two on and sent a line drive single to right field that scored Penovich and Petersen. Later in the inning, Ardohain, coming off the home run earlier, wasn’t finished sending a shot to the shortstop that drove in Kadence Vea and Bella Nelson, putting the score at 10-3. The Patriots added one more in the seventh, but the Lady Dinos closed out the contest to get the win.

Ardohain had a huge game for Carbon, going 2-4 at the plate with three RBIs and a run scored. Penovich went 3-4 with a run scored and one RBI, and Petersen was 1-3 with a pair of runs scored in the win.

Adams earned the complete game win with four earned runs on 10 hits, striking out nine.

The Lady Dinos travel to Nephi to face the Juab Wasps on Tuesday. Back on March 28, the two teams met in Price, with the Dinos taking a 5-0 win.
