
The Dino boys’ volleyball squad celebrated their seniors on Tuesday evening when the Juab Wasps came to town. The Wasps spoiled the evening, taking a straight-set win over the Dinos.
Carbon said goodbye to six senior contributors from this year’s squad. After graduation, Connor Gleave, Raymond Johnson, Charles Tima, Evan Lancaster, Ky Earl, and Manuel Palacios will move on. Carbon sits at 14-9 overall and 7-4 in region play. They sit in the No.6 spot in the most recent RPI, with one left to go.
Juab wasn’t messing around in the first set and took a 25-14 win. The second set was a little closer but the Wasps still hung on for the 25-20 win to go up 2-0. In the third and final set, Carbon couldn’t find the edge they needed and fell 25-19.
Carter Warburton had 12 digs, with eight kills and three service aces for Carbon. Conor Gleave had nine assists with eight digs and a pair of service aces, Grant Mathis had nine assists and six digs in the loss.
On Tuesday the Dinos travel to Mount Pleasant to take on No. 5 North Sanpete. In their two meeting this season, Carbon is 1-1 and will be looking for the series edge heading into he post season that starts on May 3.
