Carbon High School has 11 senior student-athletes who were recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2025 spring season by the Utah High School Activities Association and Deseret News by being selected to the Academic All-State team in their respective sports.

Individuals are selected for the award based on their athletic ability and academic proficiency. The Academic All-State award is decided by either meeting an index score (view here) or having a 4.0 unweighted grade point average.

The Carbon boys soccer team led the way, with four student-athletes recognized. Drake Chappell, Luke Brady, Mason Engar, and Tyler Morris all received the honor. The soccer team completed their regular season with an 11-3 overall and region record, earning the No. 3 spot in the final RPI. They will start postseason play on April 30 when they welcome the North Sanpete Hawks to Price.

The boys’ tennis team had a pair of honorees as Nicholas Bryner and Josiah Trostle were named. Tennis is wrapping up its regular season with the Uintah Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Then on April 30, the team travels to Mount Pleasant for the Region 12 Championships on Saturday.

Josiah Troslte earned his second nod for his contributions to Carbon High Track, teammate Bradley Sweeney also received recognition. The Dinos are coming off their performance at the Eastern Utah Championships and will be in Delta for the Signature Real Estate Invitational this Saturday.

Connor Gleave and Evan Lancaster earned honors for the Carbon High boys’ volleyball team. The Dinos are 14-9 overall and 7-4 in Region 12. They also hold the No. 6 mark in the most recent RPI. Carbon has one game left in the regular season at North Sanpete on Tuesday.

Rydge Butler and Sage Vea were the lone Carbon baseball and softball team members to receive the honor. Butler and the Dinos return to the diamond on Friday when they welcome the Juab Wasps to Price. Carbon is 8-12 overall and 6-5 in region play, holding the No. 8 spot in the latest RPI. Vea and the Lady Dinos head to the diamond on Friday when they travel to Delta for a doubleheader. Carbon softball sits at 9-14 overall and 6- 14 in region play, holding the No. 9 spot in the latest RPI.
