
Carbon baseball closed out the regular season last Friday, completing the series sweep of Emery. On Tuesday morning, the Utah High School Activities Association released the final RPI rankings and the bracket for the 3A State Championships. The Dinos earned the No. 8 spot, locking in a meeting with the North Sanpete Hawks in the Super Regional round starting Thursday in Price.
Carbon closed the regular season at 10-13 overall and 8-6 in region play. Landing at No. 8 meant they would face the North Sanpete Hawks from Region 12. The two teams split the season series; the Dinos lost their home game 8-0 But then turned around and took an 11-4 win at North Sanpete.
Super Regionals will start on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. on the field at Carbon High. This round is best-of-three, so game two will occur at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Game three, if necessary, will follow at 3:00 p.m.. A win in the Super Regional round will advance them to the next round, where they will take on the Ogden/Canyon View series winner. That game will take place on May 12 at Utah Valley University at 4:30 p.m..
