Stanley Hunt, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025 surrounded by his wife and children.
Stan was born January 13, 1930, in Price, Utah, to James Carlos Hunt and Elzina May Watson.
His early years were spent in Green River, Utah. His father died when Stan was nine years old, and his mother passed when he was 11.
After his parents passed, he moved to Antioch, California, where he was raised by his siblings.
He excelled in many school activities, including playing the trumpet and singing. He won the vocal solo competition by singing, “Old Man River.”
After high school, he moved to Blackfoot Idaho, where he met the love of his life, Dona Mary Moses. They married on August 28, 1950, in the Logan, Utah Temple and started their journey together.
Soon after this, he was drafted into the Army, and served in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, Stan and Dona moved their family to Green River, Utah, where they resided for the next 30 years. He was employed in the trucking industry, and owned “Stan’s Service,” a gas station, convenience store, car wash, and fast-food establishment. He was later employed by the Emery County School District as the maintenance supervisor, where he worked side by side with his wife, Dona, until they retired.
They then embarked on a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Nauvoo, Illinois. Stan served as a teamster, providing carriage rides to the visitors, while giving history lessons of Nauvoo. One of the highlights of his mission was singing, “A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief,” in one of the productions there.
Stan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many positions, including in the bishopric, and high council. His favorite calling was as the music director.
Dad loved his family and worked very hard to provide for them. Mom said she thought he was the most handsome man around and had a great sense of humor. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and music.
Stan is survived by his wife, Dona, of Price; children, Jeanine (Earl) Jewkes, of St. George, Utah, Mary Ann (Randy) Pulham, of Layton, Utah, Stanley (Vickie) Hunt, of Price, Utah, Lori (Sherwood) Hamblin, of Mesa, Arizona, Jeff (Jeannee) Hunt, of Helper, Utah, and Connie (Micheal) Potts, of Price, Utah; 29 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents; six siblings; daughter, Donnamay Brockbank; and great-grandson, Britton Carter Cox.
The family wishes to express their many thanks to the entire staff of Pinnacle Care Center, Dr. Shane Gagon, Mike Gagon and Zoe from Rocky Mountain Homecare for their loving care.
