Following a record-setting opening weekend, Helper Saturday Vibes aims to get bigger and better as the season continues. Sydney Ho from the Vibes team joined the KOAL newsroom to examine this weekend’s event, spotlighting the featured bands, vendors and the weekend’s public safety theme.
Ho opened the discussion by looking back at Helper Vibes’ season opener,” It was a great time. We think this is one of our highest attended kickoff events of the five years we’ve been doing this.” She continued,” Creep was great. The Glitter Bombs were great. The margarita was great. It was awesome to see everybody out there.”
Moving from the past and into the future, Ho discussed the May 24 event, which features a public safety theme: “This season, we’re hoping to have more collaboration with our local law enforcement as well as other public safety officers like our EMTs and the other people in our community that keep us safe. And so we have met with the Helper law officials and worked on new ways to help keep our community safe, and we really wanted to emphasize that this weekend.”
The weekend will feature a plethora of entertainment options, starting at 5 p.m. when Sonestone takes the stage. “Both of our bands this Saturday are going to be classic rock, and it will be a good time.” Following Sonestone’s performance, Variant X will rock the night away starting at 8 p.m.
In addition to the live music, Helper Vibes will also serve as the kickoff for Castle Country Radio’s Summer of Fun giveaway. The major prizes for this year’s Summer of Fun include a Pit Boss Smoker courtesy of IFA, a set of tires from C.A.R.S., a patio set from Bill’s Home Furnishings and the grand prize of a hot tub from Take a Break Spa’s. “It’s exciting to have a hot tub out there on Main Street,” said Ho.
Looking at food options at Vibes, Ho shared,” We have even more vendors signed up for this weekend than last weekend, so there’s going to be more food and more stuff to buy. We’ll have everybody food-wise that we had last weekend as well as some new folks this weekend. There’s going to be a nacho bus, and I’m very excited about that.”
As always, the event will feature a unique margarita mixture by Bar Manager Shayla Olson, which is sure to leave attendees wanting more.” This weekend, we have the strawberry kiss margarita, which is our house-made margarita mixed with pureed frozen strawberries and some fun toppers.”
Closing out our conversation, Ho stated,” Just a huge thank you to all of our sponsors. There are some big players out there that we couldn’t do this event without.”
Helper Saturday Vibes will run from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Helper’s Historic Main Street. You can visit Helper Vibes’ Facebook page or website for more information.
