Linda Crespin Valdez was born in Silt, Colorado to Dulcinella Marie Aragon Crespin on March 6, 1943. She was the youngest of six siblings. Della, Emma, Joseph, Frank and Bernice.

When Linda was very young, she moved with her mom to Helper, Utah where she attended Sally Mauro Elementary, Helper Jr. High and graduated from Carbon High School where she met her best friend Evelyn Pacheco and remained friends until Evelyn’s passing. When Linda learned how to read, she was in heaven. She spent a lot of time at the library where she could immerse herself in whatever book she was reading at the time. She was also crowned Mexican queen at the young age of 17.

She married Arthur Valdez on July 13, 1963. They spent 61 wonderful years together.

Linda and Arthur were married in Silt, Colorado. From there they moved to Oceanside, California while Arthur was in the Marine Corp, where they lived a couple of blocks from the ocean. She made friends with some of the other military wives, and one of her favorite things was for them all to go to the beach and have picnics and play in the ocean. In 1965 they welcomed their first daughter, Valorie Lin on January 6, 1965.

Once they left Oceanside Arthur worked in construction which meant they moved around quite often. They had a small camp trailer they lived in and had so many adventures. Sometimes they didn’t have running water, but Linda did what she had to do to make life comfortable.

When Arthur was done working construction, he got a job at Tracy Defense Depot in Stockton, California where they welcomed their second daughter Natalie Lin on January 16, 1970. While in Stockton they became good friends with Norman and Karen McCabe and continued their friendship over the years.

Their next move would be back to Silt, Colorado where they welcomed their youngest daughter Samantha Lin on May 4, 1972.

In the early 70’s Arthur and Linda decided to move to Helper, Utah where they had several relatives. This was such a happy time for Linda. She was very close to her sister Bernie and her brother Joe, whom she spent a lot of time with. Once all her girls were in school Linda chose to go to work at Sally Mauro Elementary where she was proud to be a librarian and a bilingual tutor. With her love for children and books this was a perfect fit for her.

Some of Linda’s favorite things were cooking, gardening, traveling, music and dancing. In school her classmates called her swivel hips! Her greatest joy of all was her grandchildren. After her girls married and moved away Linda would travel every chance she had to spend with her grandchildren.
