Municipal election season is upon us, and the candidate filing period is open as of Monday, June 2. Below is a list of open positions across Castle Country, instructions for filing and other election information.
Requirements:
According to Utah State Code §20A-9-203, to qualify for municipal candidacy, a candidate must:
- File a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder or Deputy Recorder
- Be a United States citizen at the time of filing.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a registered voter of the municipality you are running in.
- Be a resident of the municipality for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election.
- Not be a convicted felon.
Carbon County
Positions open:
Mayor- four-year term.
Two city council seats – four-year term.
Filing period:
June 2 through June 6.
Where to file:
Candidates will file with the Price City Recorder from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Price City Hall, 185 East Main, Price, Utah.

Filing period:

Candidates will file with the Helper City Recorder or Deputy Recorder from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Helper City Offices, 58 S. Main St.

Declarations of Candidacy must be filed in person with the Wellington City Recorder’s Office at Wellington City Hall, 150 West Main Street, Wellington, Utah.

Declarations of Candidacy must be filed in person with the East Carbon City Recorder at East Carbon City Hall, 101 W Geneva Drive in East Carbon.
Scofield
Positions open:
Mayor- four-year term.
Two city council seats- four-year term.
Filing period:
June 2 through June 6.
Where to file:
Declaration of Candidacy Forms must be filed in person with the Town Clerk at 155 Ivy Street, Scofield, Utah, during office hours and not later than the close of normal hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Emery County
Editor’s note: Emery County is a vote-by-mail county, meaning that all ballots will be mailed to voters.

Declaration of Candidacy must be filed in person at Castle Dale City Hall, located at 20 S, 100 E in Castle Dale.

A declaration of candidacy form or nomination petition must be filed with the Town Clerk / Recorder at 200 South Main Street in Clawson.

Declaration of Candidacy forms must be filed with the City Recorder at Huntington City Hall located at 20 south Main Street in Huntington.
