One of the highlight events of the summer has finally arrived in Price City. The Culture Connection Concert series officially kicks off on Thursday, June 12, when indie pop group the Bombshell Flowers performs at Washington Park.
Price City Councilmember Layne Miller joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the event and discuss the impact Culture Connection is having on the city.
Miller opened by discussing the concert’s second year in Washington Park and how he feels it has improved the product,” summertime is all about the outdoors. My whole life revolves around the outdoors, and I decided a long time ago there’s something magical about the outdoors. You take that magic and apply it to music, and it’s the ultimate music experience.”
He continued,” One thing that I really, really enjoy is sitting there waiting for the music to start, and I watch families walk up with their lawn chairs in one hand and their kids in the other hand, and they’re ready to enjoy 90 minutes of music. And what a great family experience that is. I think there are few things better.”
Over the offseason, Miller and fellow Culture Connection maestro Ted Hinckley have made some changes to the series, mainly focusing on the quality of performers,” Ted is a great band recruiter. He knows how that works. And if you look at our lineup, we have everything from the Bombshell Flowers, the group coming this week. They’re indie pop. We have everything from the Bombshell Flowers to a Fleetwood Mac Tribute group; we have what I think will be a fabulous lineup.”
According to the event page,” The Bombshell Flowers are an alternative/indie rock band from Utah that began in 2011. With the perfect blend of classic sounds and modern production, the trio consists of Brenden Blackham, Brantly Green, and Gavin Cox, each with their own unique take on the indie rock music genre.”
“I’ve noticed over the last few years that Culture Connection has become a part of the Price City fabric. It’s beginning to be that if you think of Price City, you think of music,” said Miller. “But that whole thing has kind of come to a head the last few years in Price City, and I’m proud to be a part of that.”
In closing, Miller stated,” We’re thrilled that it’s summer. We’re thrilled that music starts this week, Washington Park and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it.”
The Bombshell Flowers will take the stage at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Washington Park in Price. For more information on Price Culture Connection and other upcoming events, visit the city’s Facebook page or pricecityutah.com.
