For Vern Akauola, the journey into the roofing and siding industry started as a teen.
“I had a best friend in high school. His dad was in the roofing business, and I worked for him for the summers,” explained Akauola. “And then I decided to go to college for a bit, played football there, and decided that wasn’t my thing. So I got back into roofing due to what I did in high school because I did enjoy it.”
This enjoyment of the industry led Akauola to start Clean Cut Roofing and Siding. Based in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Clean Cut Roofing and Siding has served the Sanpete, Sevier, Millard Emery, and Carbon counties for over twenty years.
“One thing I love about roofing and siding, and even windows that we do, is you get to see the transformation on people’s homes,” shared Akauola. “It’s always exciting. Especially when you do a full exterior remodel. We do the roof. We do the siding and the windows. And we really see that transformation in their house and how happy customers are when we’re done.”
Clean Cut Roofing and Siding offers services including residential and commercial roofing, roof repair and replacement, asphalt roofing, and gutters. “We do roofing, siding, Pella windows, and jellyfish e-lighting, which we just recently started doing. And that’s been really popular.”
With a bulk of business coming from the Castle Country, Akauola shared plans to expand into the area. “We’ve worked over here in the Price and Emery area for years. I think around 65% of our business is done here. So we’re always over here. So we’ve talked about expanding it more into this area and opening up an office and a location here. And we will be doing that here this year or the next.”
