Cancer is one of the most terrifying battles one can face. Luckily, within the Castle Country, this battle is hardly fought alone. As Tennille Feichko, founder of Better Graves Utah, battles breast cancer, the community looks to show its support through an online silent auction beginning Monday, July 7.
Valorie Marietti joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the auction and other ways the community can get involved.
“Several months ago, Tennille was diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s had two surgeries. She’s just finished her third round of chemo. She has one more round of chemo to go, and then she’ll start radiation. If you guys know who Tennille is, she is the one who runs Saving Graves Utah. If you’ve had your headstone cleaned in this county, she has done it for you. She’s a very generous, very kind person. So many people stop me and tell me that she cleaned their headstone for free. And now it’s our turn to be supportive of her,” explained Marietti.
She continued,” We will be doing a fundraiser. It’s just online on her page called Tennille’s Journey of Hope. I’ve got several donations already. If you would like to make a donation, please contact me. You can contact me on Facebook or by phone at 435-820-8384. The fundraiser will start Monday morning. I’ll be posting photos of all the donations that we have and then ending it Saturday, July 12 at noon.”
As for the items up for auction, Marietti gave a preview of what will be in the auction: “We’ve already got some great things. Thank you, Barbie Haeck, for donating a really great camp chair. We’ve got a couple of Scentsy baskets. We’ve got a full hair color from Kennedy Larsen and some Old Dominion tickets from you guys at the radio station.”
Outside of the auction, other methods are available to donate to the fundraiser. “If you check Tennille’s Journey of Hope, her Venmo is listed there. You can, if you’d like, just give me a call; we can discuss different ways you can help. I had someone contact me about possibly printing T-shirts and selling them to raise some money for her. I have been contacted by Trish Anderson. If you know her, she does a lot of different classes at the Studio on Eighth. And she’s talking about possibly having a donation day where several different teachers teach classes, and the money is donated to Tennille. If you have a product to sell and would like to put together a basket, please call me. My cellphone is 820-8384.”
In closing, Marietti shared,” I just want to say that everything matters until you’re sick. And Tennille’s really struggling. So if you could help out, I would appreciate it.”
The online silent auction for Tennille Feichko will begin on Monday, July 7, and continue until noon on Saturday, July 12. The complete list of items available will be posted on Facebook at Tennille’s Journey of Hope.
