Reaching the midway mark of its summer season, Helper Saturday Vibes looks to kick off the second half in style with its annual river float event.

Sydney Ho from the Vibes team, alongside Nick and Nicole Parker from Chaos Cove, joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss what’s in store for this week’s rendition of Helper Saturday Vibes.

Starting 30 minutes earlier than usual, Helper Vibes will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with its river float event,” We’ll be having a river float, it’s a good way to cool off. We’ll be meeting at the Swinging bridge, and then if you do the float, there will be some fun stickers and bumper stickers created by our friends at Chaos Cove.”

Speaking on Chaos Cove, Nick Parker shared what he enjoys most about his work,” just taking somebody’s vision and bringing it to reality. Taking it, fine-tuning all of the changes and then the install.” Nicole echoed this sentiment, sharing that her favorite part of the process is the installation.

The Parkers also operate the Carbon Emery MX series, which has teamed up with the biweekly festival to promote Helper Vibes through a giveaway. “We’re gonna be giving away some alcoholic beverages, some priority seating, some limited-edition Helper vibes merch in addition to a hundred dollars that Chaos Cove so generously donated,” explained Ho. “To enter, you have to attend Carbon Emery MX that morning to start your day off, and then you can cool off with our river float at 4:30 p.m. And then that giveaway will happen at our merch tent at 6 p.m.”

Moving into the music, the good times get rolling at 5 p.m. when Coalbreed takes the stage. Formerly known as Black Corvus, Coalbreed brings a sharp, metal sound to Vibes. “They are some locals, and metal is going to be a little bit of a different vibe for Helper Vibes, so we’re excited to bring it.”

Following Coalbreed at 8 p.m., attendees will be transported to the psychedelic world of Pink Floyd through cover band Price Floyd. In addition to their performance, Price Floyd will also play host to a laser show to accompany the music.

Looking at the kids’ activities, Ho promised,” some neon and some lights.”

For the adults, Bar Manager Shayla Olsen has prepared another gem for margarita lovers to enjoy. “This week is the Brazilian Lime-a-rita, and from what I hear, that was the most sold drink last year.”

Closing out our conversation, Ho provided some words of encouragement to get out and attend Helper Saturday Vibes: “I feel like people love to complain that there’s nothing to do in our community. And as you can see by this Saturday’s slate, that is just not the case. So come party with Carbon Emery MX and spend your night with Vibes and have a good time.”

Helper Saturday Vibes will begin at 4:30 p.m. with their annual river float, followed by music at 5 p.m. For more information, you can visit Helper Vibes’ Facebook page or website.
