The Panther baseball team was back on the diamond on Monday to face the Tintic Miners. Coming off a win over Green River, the Panthers were in front of the home crowd and held the lead until the Miners found their offense in the fifth and never looked back, handing Pinnacle the 18-4 loss.

Pinnacle earned a hard-fought win over the Green River Pirates on the road last Friday, 6-5, and were looking forward to getting back to the field, this time at home.

The Panthers got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, as Brody Howell sent a triple to center, driving in Joey Howell to go up 1-0. Tintic would tie things up in the third and then add one more run to take the 2-1 lead.

Pinnacle came back, however, in the bottom half of the inning first to tie it up on a Bryson Shumway single, scoring Joey Howell. Shumway would score on a passed ball two batters later, regaining the lead for the Panthers 3-2. The Miners added five runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-3 lead.

Pinnacle added one more in the bottom of the fifth as Brody Howell would steal home to get the score to 8-4, and that was as close as the Panthers got the rest of the game. Tintic would add nine runs in the sixth to close out the Panthers 18-4.

Joey Howell was 2-3, scoring a pair of runs for Pinnacle. Brody Howell went 2-3, scoring one run and collecting one RBI, and Shumway was 1-3 with a run and an RBI in the loss.

Joey Howell also got the start on the mound, going 4.2 innings, surrendering nine runs, eight earned, on 10 hits while striking out six. Shumway finished out the game, going 1.1 innings, giving up seven earned runs on four hits.

On Wednesday, the Wayne Badgers will come to Price. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m..
