vibes

As the summer months begin to wind down, the fun continues in Helper as the city’s Saturday Vibes events continue to bring the heat as the weather cools down. On Saturday, Aug. 23, the festival will be graced by a car show, live entertainment and the culmination of Castle Country Radio’s ‘Summer of Fun’ giveaway.

Sydney Ho from the Vibes team joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the event and build excitement for this week’s rendition of Vibes.

Starting at 5 p.m. along Helper’s historic Main Street, attendees will be able to enjoy a car show alongside a musical performance from local favorite Hyland Markle.” Highland has a lot of really cool percussion,” said Ho of the performer.

At 8 p.m., another fan-favorite will take the park stage as rock-cover group Bad Frances enters the fray. “How can you go wrong with a rock cover band at Vibe’s?” asked Ho.

Looking at vendors, Ho discussed some of the options available to attendees,” We have Favorites, El Sartan, if you haven’t tried their chicken tenders, you’d better try them soon. And the Nacho Bus is coming back. We sure do love their nachos. We also have Waffle Love signed up this week. They haven’t been at any vibes yet this season, but have come in the past.”

The event will also see the final drawing for Castle Country Radio’s ‘Summer of Fun’ giveaway, which has been gathering entrants all summer. The major prizes for this year’s Summer of Fun include a Pit Boss Smoker courtesy of IFA, a set of tires from C.A.R.S., a patio set from Bill’s Home Furnishings and the grand prize of a hot tub from Take a Break Spa’s.

As is tradition, the event will feature a kids’ corner activity, with the event featuring a car-themed activity. Also present will be bouncy houses for the children’s enjoyment.

For the adults to enjoy, bar manager Shayla Olsen has concocted another specialty margarita for the over-21 crowd to try. “This week, going along with our car show theme, we have a pink Cadillac margarita, and it’s going to be raspberry puree with our house-made margarita mix topped with cotton candy and a pink rimmer.”

For our penultimate topic of discussion, Ho discussed the various ways the community can connect with Helper Vibes: “You can find us on all the platforms, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, at Helper Vibes Utah and online at HelperVibes.com.”

Closing our conversation, Ho stated,” Just a huge thank you to Vintage Motor Co. this week, our sponsor on Main Street, and they will be having some cars out there. So it’ll be fun.”
