Emery Lady Spartan soccer traveled to Clearfield on Tuesday to take on the Utah Military Academy Hill Field Thunderbirds. In a high-scoring affair, the Lady Spartans pulled away with a 6-4 win.
Emery is sitting at 4-1 this season, and the effort that they have put forth over the last two seasons to get to where they are today is starting to show. Emery has had a pretty strong pre-season slate and will get to Region 13 play on September 4, when they take on Carbon.
In the opening half, the Lady Spartans came out gunning and found the back of the net twice, surrendering one to hold the lead going into halftime. In the second half, Utah Military Academy found its offense as well, finding the back of the net on three occasions, but Emery would match that amount and add one extra to give themselves the 6-4 win.
Megan Stilson had a hat trick plus one as she was able to score four goals for Emery, adding an assist as well. Illyria Mason scored the other two and had an assist in the win.
The Lady Spartans are back on the road on Friday when they travel to Millard to face the Eagles. The Eagles, who sit at 0-3, will be looking for their first win of the season.
