With a double header shellacking of Wendover, Pinnacle was on the road in Tropic to face the Bryce Valley Mustangs. The Panthers couldn’t get into a rhythm offensively, and the Mustangs took advantage 8-3.

Last Friday, the Panthers took care of Wendover in a double header, taking the win 15-5 in game one and 20-7 in game two. Pinnacle sits at 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the 1A South Region. The RPI for 1A baseball will be available on September 1.

Neither team could find any offense early as Bryce Valley finally broke in the scoreboard in the bottom of the third, putting three runs on the board.  The Mustangs would add five more runs over the next three innings, leading 8-0 going into the top of the seventh.

Joey Howell continued his outstanding season at the plate, got things started in the top of the seventh, sending a double to left, driving in Dominick Vigil. After Bryce Valley issued a walk to Bryson Shumway, Brody Howell came to the plate and sent a line drive to center, driving Joey Howell and Joshua Hayes in to put three runs on the board, but it wouldn’t be enough as Bryce Valley claimed the 8-3 win.

Brody Howell went 2-4 with a pair of RBIs for the Panthers. AJ Jimenez was 2-2, Joey Howell and Vigil both went 1-3 with one run each, and Joey Howell added an RBI in the loss.

Joey Howell also took the loss on the mound, giving up eight runs, four earned, on 11 hits while striking out four.

Friday, Pinnalce will be at home to face Valley. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m..
