It was a rainy Wednesday afternoon when the Carbon Dino golf squad welcomed schools from around the region for their one opportunity to host a match for the season. Carbon had their chances, but after the rain subsided and the match was complete, it was the Union Cougars who claimed first, with the Dinos finishing in second.
Union shot an impressive 295 with five of their eight golfers shooting in the 70s. Carbon was seven strokes off the pace with a 302, and Emery claimed third with a 323. North Sanpete (356) and Manti (377) comprised the rest of the field. Stetson Willis of Union had the low round with a 71.
For the Dinos, it was Cah Withers with the low round of 72. Dayton King shot a 73, Levi King had a 77, and Paxton Falk rounded out the scoring four for the Dinos with an 80. Tristen Cunningham (88), Case Barker (88), Christian Cowan (89), and Karsen Gazell (91) also competed for Carbon in the match.
The Dinos now get an extended break and won’t head back to the links until Tuesday, September 9, when they will travel to face the course at Palisades State Park, the home of the Manti Templars.
