Martin B. Erni, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025 at the Goodlife Senior Living & Memory Care Center in Price, Utah with Darlene, his wife of 53 years, by his side. He was born, January 13, 1953 in Logan, Utah to Theophil and Elizabeth Aebi Erni. He was the brother of Christine, Konrad, and Bernard. He was very proud of his Swiss heritage and passed on the Swiss traditions that he loved to his sons, Matthew and Kobi, along with the hard work ethic learned from his parents.

Martin started working when he was eight years old, delivering newspapers on his bike for the Herald Journal. He later joined the Logan City Police Dept. Martin and Darlene decided to make their forever home in Cleveland where Martin worked at the USFuel Hiawatha Coal Mine. He then worked for an international mining equipment company. He also owned and operated a small business and used it to teach his children how to work.

He was a dedicated builder and enjoyed the pleasure of a well-done finished project. He carried and placed every brick and pounded every nail in the home he built for his family. He also enjoyed restoring vehicles and had the satisfaction of keeping the family cars dependable many miles beyond their lifespan.

He was so proud of his sons and grandsons, always acknowledging their accomplishments.  As he got older and his health declined, his words were sometimes harsh, but his heart carried the love he had for his family and his love for them was always there. Having only two grandsons, Makita and Jase, he often commented that Quality is better than Quantity.

He loved traveling and traveled the US, Canada, Mexico, and overseas for his job. Fluent in two languages and practicing two more, he loved to talk to other people and learn about different people and their cultures.

He was involved in his home town. He served on the Cleveland Town Council for several years. He was the fire chief for the Cleveland-Elmo fire department. He was a 4-H leader and Hunter Safety Instructor for several years.

He loved and treasured his animals. Preceding him were four beautiful Shelties and several fuzzy cats waiting to fill his lap.  He also enjoyed cultivating bees, extracting, and preserving honey.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew Frank and Cymberly, Kobi Martin and Chantelle; grandsons, Makita Franklin and Jase Martin; sister, Christine Lord; brothers, Konrad and Rosie, Bernard and Gina; and sister-in-law, Angelia Fillmore.
