Each year, to help kick off the fall season, Ascension St. Matthew’s Church hosts its annual Fall Fare fundraiser. Set for Friday, Oct. 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the event seeks to unite the community through charity, food and fun.

Pastor Angela Chacón joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the celebration and give a peek at the various goods available at the Fall Fare.

“The Fall Fare is an event at Ascension St. Matthew’s that we have been doing for over 10 years, and it is mainly a great opportunity for the community to get together, break bread and have some delicious soup,” explained the Pastor. “There’s a plethora of different soups, baked goods and canned goods. People also have an opportunity to do a little shopping. We have a gift shop that’s one of the best-kept secrets here in town.”

Also present at the event will be booths from the United Way of Eastern Utah and Help Me Grow Utah offering information on resources and activities available for children up to eight years old.

In conjunction with the Fall Fare, ASM is also hosting a donation ticket giveaway. Featuring approximately $3000 worth of prizes, the opportunity drawing is sure to attract attention. Tickets can be purchased from church members or directly from the church. They can also be obtained by calling the church at 435-637-0106.

The opportunity drawing will take place on Monday, Oct. 6, beginning at noon at 522 North Homestead Blvd. Participants do not need to be in attendance to win.

In addition to helping raise funds for the church, Pastor Angela shared that a portion of the revenue raised will go back to supporting the community. “We are going to be giving 10% of the proceeds to a food ministry in our area. We do recognize that there’s a lot of food insecurity, and we want to be a part of helping alleviate that need.”

Looking at the menu for the activity, Pastor Angela shared that for dine in meals, a large bowl of soup and a roll will cost $8; a child’s bowl and a roll run at $5. For takeout, $13 will get a quart of soup and two rolls. The church accepts both cash and credit cards for purchases.

“One thing I also want to bring to your attention is that I know there are people in our community who either can’t eat meat or choose not to eat meat. We do have vegetarian options, and also gluten-free options for our friends who cannot have gluten,” said Pastor Angela.

Closing our conversation, Pastor Angela stated,” We appreciate the community of Price, Wellington, Helper and East Carbon. The people in Emery and Carbon County have been so good to us, and we hope that you will come out and support us as we turn around and try to give back to our community.”

Ascension St. Matthew’s annual Fall Fare fundraiser takes place on Friday, Oct. 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 522 North Homestead Blvd. in Price.
