
The Spartan golf team traveled to Roosevelt on Tuesday to take part in a regional tournament at the Roosevelt Golf Course, home of the Union Cougars. The season is getting close to the end, with just a couple of matches left before the State Championships coming up in October. Union, which has been unstoppable this season, earned a first-place finish; Emery took third.
The Cougars finished in first place, shooting a 304, followed by Carbon, which carded a 312. Emery claimed third with a 325. North Sanpte (350) and Manti (376) rounded out the top five. Stetson Wills of Union had the low round of 70.
Champ Justice led the way for the Spartans with a 76. Brandon Behunin finished with an 80, Peyton Neilson had an 84, and Bronx Olsen shot an 85 to round out the scoring for Emery. Owen Blackham (87), Crew Behling (88), Statton Bingham (96), and Easton Stoker (98) also took part in the match for the Spartans.
The Spartans will stay in the basin for the final match of the regular season when they play the Dinaland Golf Course in Vernal on Wednesday.
The Region 13 Championships will take place on September 29 at the Stansbury Park course. The following week, on October 8 & 9, the State Championships will also be held at Stansbury Park.
