
The Emery Spartan golf team traveled to Vernal on Wednesday to face the Dinaland Golf Course. In a match that was initially set for Tuesday, Emery came away with a third-place finish in the final regular-season contest before the postseason begins.
Initially, the matches on Wednesday were supposed to be played at the Roosevelt Golf Course, but the location was swapped. As a result, Tuesday’s matches, which were scheduled to be played at Dinaland, were moved to Wednesday, and on Tuesday, the region played at the Roosevelt course.
Union shot a 292 as a team to earn first place. Carbon was a close second, just seven strokes off the pace with a 299. Emery (324), North Sanpete (344), and Manti (368) rounded out the top five. Carbon’s Levi King had the low round of the day with a 67.
Champ Justice was the top finisher for the Spartans with a 76, followed by Brendon Behunin with a 77. Peyton Nielson shot an 80, and Bronx Olsen and Crew Behling rounded out the scoring for Emery with 91. Owen Blackham (96), Easton Stoker (103), and Staton Bingham (111) competed for the Spartans as well.
The Spartans will now take part in the Region Championship at Stansbury Park on Monday.
