A tradition that conjures the Halloween spirit in Huntington makes its return on Friday, Oct. 3, as the Wee Bit Wicked Witches prepare to host their seventh annual Witches Ball.
Laurel Killpack from the group joined the KOAL newsroom to preview the event and discuss the newest addition to the affair – the ‘Reverse the Curse Wee Bit Wicked Adventure’.
Opening our conversation, Killpack explained who the Wee Bit Wicked Witches are,” The Wee Bit Wicked Witches are just a group of fun witches that get together. We perform at schools, care centers, and anywhere someone might want us to come. Our biggest event is this Witches Ball, which is a carnival.
In addition to various vendors and inflatables for everyone to enjoy, the event features the ‘Reverse the Curse Wee Bit Wicked Adventure’, an escape room constructed right in the heart of Huntington. “It’s an escape room, and we want to encourage, because this is on the night of Emory County’s homecoming, Emory High School’s homecoming, we want to encourage those boys to bring their dates and come and do the escape room, buy some dinner at the park, and go off to homecoming.”
‘Reverse the Curse Wee Bit Wicked Adventure’ takes place at Huntington City Park in the old town hall building. The experience is designed for 2-6 participants at a time and costs $5 per person.
For the Witches Ball, the organization hosts a silent auction to benefit the Emery County’ Shop with a Cop’ program. “That’s actually the focus, the dancing and all of the parade, that’s fun, but the real thing that we’re doing here is trying to raise money for the shop with a cop program,” stated Killpack.
The penultimate event of the evening comes when the witches gather for their light parade, which always serves as a fan favorite. “I do want to tell anyone who wants to put a float in the parade that they will line up at 6:30 p.m. down at 300 South Main Street. There’s plenty of room for everybody to come and get lined up so that we’ll be ready to go by 7 p.m.”
Killpack provided contact information for those looking to get involved with the event: “If you want to put a booth in it, you can contact Louise Harris. Her number is 801-362-7492. If you want to put a float in, please contact Lesa Miller at 435-820-1014. If you don’t get her contacted, that’s fine, just bring your float.”
Closing our conversation, Killpack stated,” I just want to say quickly that Jump and Jam Inflatables will also be there. They’ll have their mechanical bull, for $5 a ride and $5 wristbands for the inflatables.”
The Wee Bit Wicked Witches host their seventh annual Witches Ball on Friday, Oct. 3, beginning at 4 p.m. in Huntington City Park.
