
The Lady Spartan soccer squad had a pair of home games this week, going 1-1 in the contests. A win came on Wednesday when they faced the Cottonwood Colts in a non-conference game. On Thursday, they returned to Region 13 play, facing the Manti Templars. The Templars overpowered the Spartans, handing them a 9-0 loss.
Emery is 6-11 overall and 0-7 in region play. In the latest rankings, the Lady Spartans are ranked No. 14.
On Wednesday, the Lady Spartans battled with the Cottonwood Colts. The Colts rank No. 29 in the 4A standings. It was a tight contest, but Emery came out on top 3-2.
Thursday’s region match-up against Manti was a different story. The Templars sit at 11-4 overall and are ranked No. 3 in the latest rankings.
Manti jumped out in the first half and found the back of the net eight times to take the lead at halftime. In the second half, Manti slowed things down, adding just one more and taking the 9-0 win.
The Manti game also served as Senior Night for the Spartans, as they celebrated eight seniors: Kaicee Behling, Illyria Mason, Avey Beagley, Jessie Childs, Megan Stilson, Molly Christiansen, Laynee Monsen, and Ashley Mesler, who will all graduate next spring.
The final contest of the regular season will be on Tuesday, October 7, when the Spartans travel to Roosevelt to face the Union Cougars.
