Taking a break from a grueling region slate, the Carbon Dinos traveled to the heart of the state to face the Delta Rabbits on Friday, Oct. 3. A dominant Delta rush attack paved the way for the Rabbits to claim a 28-0 non-region victory.
Delta capitalized on an impressive opening drive, marching downfield before pushing the ball across the goal line on a 15-yard run by senior running back Jett Rawlinson. Kicker Jacen Johnson booted the ball through the uprights to claim a 7-0 advantage.
Rawlinson added two more rushing touchdowns in the second frame, scoring on a three-yard and a 28-yard scamper to build a daunting 21-0 Rabbit lead heading into the halftime break.
The second half was dominated by defense, with both teams struggling to move the ball. The lone exception came when Rawlinson again broke away from the Dino defense, sprinting 71 yards to the house for his fourth touchdown of the evening, elevating Delta to a 28-0 edge – a lead that the Rabbits held until the end of the game.
Maddux Wilson led the way for Carbon, rushing for 50 yards and adding 33 yards receiving. In total, the Dinos rushed for 114 yards.
The loss moves Carbon to 2-6 on the season. Two games remain on the Dinos’ schedule, the first on Friday, Oct. 10, at home against the Manti Templars. The regular season ends on a road trip to Cedar City to face the Reds on Friday, Oct. 17.
