The Carbon Dinos had 11 student-athletes who earned Academic All-State honors for the fall sports season. Student-athletes from cross country, football, girls’ soccer, and volleyball all received nods for their abilities not just on the field but also in the classroom.
The honor is awarded using the following criteria found on the Utah High School Activities Association website:
Each sport and activity season, the UHSAA will open nominations through RegisterMyAthlete. Parents/students will enter their RegisterMyAthlete account and click on the Academic All-State tab to enter their unweighted cumulative high school GPA, ACT/SAT score, and submit the nomination form. Schools must confirm that the student-athlete is a varsity contributor, verify the GPA and ACT/SAT score, ensure the student is a senior, and upload a current transcript before submitting the nomination to the UHSAA by the specified deadline. The Academic All-State award will now be decided by either meeting an index score or having a 4.0 unweighted GPA.
The Carbon cross-country team had a pair of runners earn honors. On the boys’ side, it was Dallin Humes earning the nod, and Alexa Jones was singled out for the Lady Dinos. The cross-country squad will take part in the Region 13 Championships on Wednesday, the 15th, at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course, and then will prepare for the State Championships on October 28 & 29 at Sugarhouse Park.
For Dino football, Coleman Hinckley and William Hinckley each claimed honors for their efforts on the gridiron and in the classroom. The Dinos will be on the field this Thursday when they travel to Cedar City to close the regular season and take on the Reds.
Lady Dinos soccer had four honorees: Bailey Johnson, Kenzie Morgan, Maggie Truman, and Sofiya Christensen, all of whom were recognized for their achievements on the pitch and in the classroom. The Lady Dinos are ready for the postseason, which begins on Wednesday when they welcome the Providence Hall Patriots to Price. Gametime will be 4:00 p.m..
Three members of the Lady Dino volleyball team were given Academic All-State nods for their efforts on the volleyball court. Avy Atwood, Harley Hopes, and Rylee Secor were all singled out. Carbon is back on the court for Senior Night on Tuesday, October 14, for its final regular-season home contest. The season will come to a close on Thursday when they travel to Manti.
Congratulations to all recipients of the Academic All-State honors for the 2025 Fall Sports Season.
