The Utah State Eastern Eagles spent the weekend on the road, traveling to Salt Lake Community College on Thursday and Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday.
The weekend began on Thursday with a matchup against the conference-leading SLCC Bruins. The first time these two teams met, the teams battled for a 0-0 draw. This contest, however, was controlled by the Bruins. Salt Lake scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Despite an attempt to make a comeback, Eastern conceded another two goals, allowing SLCC to win 4-0.
Looking for a bounce-back, the Eagles took a trip to Colorado Northwestern in hopes of finding their stride. Demitri Larsen scored in the 7th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Owen Gaisford’s 39th-minute goal came off a saved shot from the CNCC goalie. Eastern led 2-0 after Gaisford’s ninth goal of the season. Leandro scored in the 42nd minute, giving Eastern a 3-0 lead just before the half. The Eagles did not score the rest of the match, leading to a 3-0 victory.
After the weekend, the Eagles (7-3-2, 6-3-1 Conf) sit in a tie for fourth place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings. They are tied with North Idaho College, which they play next on October 16.
