Carbon Dino football closed out the regular season last Thursday on the road in Cedar City, where they faced the No. 1-ranked Cedar City Red. On Saturday morning, the Utah High School Activities Association released the final RPI for 3A football, along with the bracket for the 3A State Championships that get underway this Friday at home sites. The Dinos will be on the road in Grantsville to take on the Cowboys.

Carbon closed out the regular season with a 2-8 overall record and 0-6 in region play, earning the No. 12 spot and setting them on a collision course with the Grantsville Cowboys.  The Cowboys will enter the contest with Carbon with an overall record of 6-4 and a 4-1 mark in the 3A North Region.

The two teams never faced each other this season, but they have faced four of the same opponents. Richfield, Juab, Ogden, and Manti. Carbon came up on the wrong side of the scoreboard in all four, and the Cowboys gathered wins over Richfield and Ogden while falling in their contests with Manti and Juab.

If the Dinos get the win, they will advance to face the winner of the No. 4 Juab and No. 13 Ben Lomond matchup; a loss ends Carbon’s season.
