The Lady Spartans began their postseason Monday at the Utah Community Credit Union Center on the campus of Utah Valley University.  Emery entered the tournament with the No. 15 seed and opened play against the No. 2-seeded Canyon View Falcons.  Canyon View jumped out early and claimed the victory over Emery 3-0, dropping them into the consolation round.

The Falcons ended the regular season at 20-7, earning first place in 3A’s Region 14. The Lady Spartans finished 9-17 and placed fifth in 3A’s Region 13, earning them the No. 15 position.

Canyon View came out in the first set and quickly claimed the victory 25-14. Emery was outgunned again in set number two, with the Falcons earning a 25-12 win. Canyon View shut down the Lady Spartans in set three, 25-12, once again to take the 3-0 win.

Emery now drops into the consolation bracket and will face No. 10 seed Layton Christian Academy at 1:30 p.m.. The Eagles dropped into the bracket after their loss to No. 7 Richfield.

A win would advance the Lady Spartans to Tuesday, and a loss would end the season.
